The evaluation of therapeutic work with children's group

The thesis discusses the evaluation of therapeutic work with a children's group. It shows the evaluation of the programme children's group psychotherapy from the perspective of parents, children and therapists. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of group psychotherapy and on children in young school age. The main part is about the psychotherapy for children and the discussion groups for their parents. The last part focuses on the role of therapist. The qualitative research is presented in the empirical part. Semi-structured interviews with seven parents, four therapists and questionnaire for seven children were conducted. These methods were analysed based on the creation of thematic categories. The evaluation of the data is also inspired by the method of grounded theory. The results show that parents, children and therapis predominantly agree in the evaluation of the children's therapeutic group program. Significant for groups seems to be establishing close relationships with other members. An important factor in the process has been the way parents and children communicate about the group. Children's groups in counseling in the context of the active cooperation with parents

This diploma thesis discusses the children's groups in counselling in the context of active parenting. It maps experiences of parents in groups from the point of view of mothers and therapists. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the group psychotherapy, the specifics of child psychotherapy and the support groups. Furthermore, it focuses on the experiences of a parent of a problem child and its active role in the process of a child psychotherapy. It also considers the work of a therapist. The qualitative research is presented in the empirical part. Semi-structured interviews with 5 mothers and 4 therapists were conducted. These interviews were analysed based on the method of creating thematic categories. The evaluation of the data is also inspired by the method of grounded theory. The results show that the views of parents and therapists are the same in most areas. Both groups perceive the importance of a parent participating in the group. The group acts therapeutically for both the child and the parents. This affects the process of the whole therapy. TITLE: Child Group Psychotherapy of Parents Looking AUTHOR: Ondřej Mýtina DEPARTMENT: Department of Psychology SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Mgr. Veronika Pavlas Martanová, Ph.D. This thesis deals with parental view of the parallel run of parental support group and child psychotherapy group. The theoretical part is focused on psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, the specifics of child psychotherapy. Particular attention is paid to the factor of universality in group psychotherapy. The theoretical part also introduces consulting services, especially group consulting. A substantial part deals with the specifics of parents' participation in their child therapy and parallel intervention applied on the child and their parents. The empirical part describes the research. It is based on an analysis of five interviews with parents who for one year attended the parental support group, while their children group psychotherapy ran in parallel. Interviews are analysed according to the principles of the Grounded Theory. The results suggest that parents in the group experienced the phenomenon of universality and were enabled to share various topics related to the problematic education of their children. This thesis discusses various options for working with children with specific behavioral disorders (ADHD, ADD, PCH). In the theoretical part, the author deals with child psychotherapy and its effectiveness in general, follows the development of research about this topic to be subsequently focused on the treatment of specific disorders in behavior and attention. Summarizes the available foreign studies of treatment effectiveness of these problems and monitors this issue also in the Czech educational - psychological counseling.
